My Part in the Starting and Assisting Light & Life School
|
 |
| The teachers and I visited the Ixchel Museum in Guatemala City to learn more about Mayan culture to teach the kids. We also attended the "Messiah" performance in Antigua. |
|
| My part began when the 13 teachers came to me to say they wanted to start a school there in Salquil. We already had the building thanks to Helen Elliot and Wyciffe.
My job now is to actively support the school through teacher training and support raising. We appreciate hosting individuals and teams that visit the school. We are in need of vision teams, teacher trainers, construction teams, VBS.... We really want you to visit!
We also appreciate medical, dental, and stove team volunteers to help us contribute to the community.
I believe that this school, especially because of its dedicated staff, provides and exceptional education and contributes to the training of future Christian leaders. My desire is to discover people who will help the school continue to improve and to have sufficient financial support to keep it functioning for many years.

| A Tribute to My Friend Sharon Rosenwald
Hi, My name is Sue and I have been the webmaster for this site and now I believe it is my turn to add my comments. I wish to express my appreciation to all of you who supported Sharon's work. I believe that Sharon's coming to Nebaj in 1995 was crucial to the ongoing progress of translation of the Nebaj, Ixil New Testament. Sharon was the networker, encourager, and communicator that was the glue that kept together the different aspects of the various activities of translation, videos, etc. Sharon is a true missionary who wore the clothes, ate the food, lived in the homes with the Nebaj/Ixil people and endured their same austere hardships. Her passion for Light & Life School comes from a heartfelt knowledge of the school which she believes will be the continuing light to the next Ixil generation. She believes in the staff and their commitment to Christ to spread the gospel as well as offer its students an excellent education. Her prayer is to find a non profit agency to back the school and be the conduit for finances. Then Sharon can rest believing that "she has fought the fight, finished the course, and that all the years and ministry will not be in vain.
